Competitive club running in the County has been given a technological boost as the Leicestershire Road Running League (LRRL) confirms that, in conjunction with the Leicestershire 2020 Vision Club Network, it has invested in chip-timing technology.
Commencing with the first winter league race at Barrow-upon-Soar in January 2012, the Barrow 6, hundreds of club athletes will now benefit from this highly accurate timing system more often found in larger races.
Andy Buck, Chairman of the Hermitage Harriers Running Club commented "The investment which the LRRL & Leicestershire 2020 Vision Club Network has made into chip timing technology will take our league to the next level, allowing County clubs of all sizes, including our own, to benefit from modern day timing at a fraction of the cost of sourcing such systems individually. It’s a true testament to club collaboration"
The LRRL consists of 22 running clubs, including Barrow Runners, Beaumont RC, Birstall RC, Charnwood AC, Desford Striders, Fleckney and Kibworth RC, Harborough AC, Hermitage Harriers RC, Hinckley Running Club, Huncote Harriers AC, Ivanhoe Runners, Leicester Coritanians, Leicester Triathlon Club, Nuneaton Harriers, OWLS AC, Roadhoggs Leicester AC, Shepshed Running Club, Stilton Striders RC, South Derbyshire Road Runners, West End Runners, Whetstone Harriers AC & Wreake Runners
