Near perfect running conditions greeted over 2400 competitors in Sundays, third annual Leicester City marathon and half marathon.
The Hermitage Harriers put out an impressive showing for our home county event, with 7 running the half and 7 taking part in the marathon.
First to cross the half marathon finish line for the Harriers in a time of 1:19:41 was Paul Gregory, and a highly commendable 18th overall position. Following came Darren Weston(1:28:08), Nigel Stock (1:35:48) and Stephen Holmes (1:37:23). Tom Hinds pulled in an impressive personal best for his first club half marathon in a time of 1:39:18. Susanne Moon (1:54:07), Kate Reeves(1:57:54), Craig Bowley (2:10:54), Caroline Scrimshaw (2:22:39) and Aaron Bird (2:24:47), completing the club half marathon contingent.
Of the marathon Harriers, Shaun Coulton ramped over the line with an impressive 14th overall and 6th Vet-40 position in a personal best time of 2:54:58, a stunning 10 minutes faster than his previous outing at Leicester. Ironman competitor Mark Perry was the next to cross the line in 3:50:29. Gareth Coates, broke the 4-hour barrier on his first marathon outing in 3:58:05, followed by Craig Johnson (4:13:33), Suzanne Perry (4:54:54) and Trevor Hope (5:13:58).
