Sunday 4th January 2015 saw the third fixture of the cross country league get underway at Mount Sinai in Staffordshire.
Despite a hard frost and foggy conditions, Hermitage Harriers romped home with all three teams securing first place in their respective leagues. The Harriers now hold the top spots in division one for both the men’s and combined teams and first place in division two for the ladies team.
Twenty eight intrepid Harriers tackled the challenging running conditions across a demanding five mile course. For the third consecutive XC race, Mia Weston and Tony Woodward were the first female and male Harriers over the line. The ladies team was completed by Zoe Sewter in 22nd position and Katie Smith in 28th. For the men, an 11th place finish from Jason Williams and 26th place from Paul Gregory secured the team’s success.
Hermitage Harriers, known as the Silver Donkeys on account of their silver racing colours, have had a highly successful cross country season so far. With the start of the Leicestershire Road Racing League just weeks away, it seems that silver could be the new gold!
